Sardine in hand-crafted ceramic, moulded and hand-painted in shades of grey. This decorative object finds its place in the whole house and immediately reminds us of Portugal.
These ceramic sardines can be placed on a piece of furniture but can also be fixed to the wall thanks to their ventral hole. They are also very much used at the table, as a decorative object but also as a cutlery rest.
These ceramic sardines come from a small workshop located between Caldas da Rainha and Obidos in the centre-west of Portugal, in the province of Estremadura. Their design is characteristic of the so-called Caldas da Rainha ceramics, whose most famous author is Bordallo Pinheiro. They are of excellent quality and great care in their finishing.
Why I love it
- A great classic of Portuguese decoration.
- Remarkable handcrafted quality.

This piece comes from a small workshop located between Caldas da Rainha and Obidos in the centre-west of Portugal, in the province of Estremadura. The moulds used there have been handed down from generation to generation and the owner of the workshop now uses his grandfather's moulds. All parts are made entirely by hand.
